Redlands City Council Meeting December 1, 6:00
***********************************************
The next Redlands City Council meeting is December 1, 2015, 6:00 at the city council chambers, 35 Cajon Street, Redlands, CA 92373.

The public comment session near the beginning of the meeting is a good opportunity to tell your city Council members what you want your government to do or not do.  In previous meetings citizen patriots have urged the City Council to oppose settling “Syrian” “refugees” in Redlands at least until they can be properly vetted for possible terrorists; opposed high density housing; and opposed SANBAG’s and the City’s plan to run 58 trains per day through Redlands.

Of particular interest at the December 1 meeting, the City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed new general plan.

The City of Redlands is updating its General Plan, which will control what gets built and where for the next 20 years.  Many cities in California and across the country are doing so, and they are trying to implement a top-down agenda of high density and low income housing, restricting single family homes, and making it more difficult to drive.  It is the local version of “sustainability” aka “fundamental transformation.”

The City’s and SANBAG’s plan to run formerly 50 and now 58 trains per day through Redlands is part of the “transformation.”  If we do not want Redlands to be “fundamentally transformed” including high density (and low income) housing throughout Redlands, restricting single family homes, trying to force us out of our cars, and restricting traffic for those who still drive so it will take more of our time to drive around Redlands, we the people of Redlands need to be involved in the process.

At the November 17 city council meeting, the City Council, in part because of citizen opposition, postponed voting on a 19% water rate increase.

I asked the question multiple times at general plan meetings “what do we want to change about Redlands?”  I have yet to hear an answer.

It is important the as many citizens as possible tell their City Council and government what they want for the future of Redlands.

As always, “The most important political office is that of the private citizen.” Justice Louis D. Brandeis

It is much easier to be a government subject or a sheep in the government pasture than it is to be a citizen of a constitutional republic.  The latter takes work, time and effort.

To paraphrase Edmund Burke, “The only thing necessary for “sustainability” to triumph is for good Patriots to do nothing.”

“As we celebrate Thanksgiving, take a moment to remember the many Americans who gave their last full measure 72 years ago in the attack on the Tarawa Atoll in the Gilbert Islands.”

“Even though no point on the island was more than nine feet above sea level, the Japanese force of 4,800 soldiers had honeycombed the island with a formidable array of barbed wire, mines, bunkers, pillboxes, log barricades, and gun emplacements with interlocking fields of fire. It was the most fortified atoll the U.S. would invade. The Japanese commander, Rear Admiral Keiji Shibasaki, boasted that “a million Americans couldn’t take Tarawa in a hundred years.” When the battle was over, only 17 Japanese were alive, along with 129 forced Korean laborers.”

“In what is probably one of the greatest examples of bravery, fortitude, and sheer grit in the history of the Marine Corps, the Marines dismounted from the Higgins boats and waded hundreds of yards through chest-high water under intense enemy fire, loaded down with weapons and packs. Five thousand Marines managed to get ashore on the first day, but the lagoon was filled with the floating bodies of hundreds of dead Marines.”

“So as we sit down to our Thanksgiving dinners with our families, all of us should remember and give thanks to the American Marines and sailors who 72 years ago fought for the freedom, liberty, and security we enjoy as Americans. They didn’t experience a peaceful Thanksgiving, but they—and the men and women in our military today—are the reason all of us will be able to enjoy a peaceful holiday with our families.”

I wrote “thanks to and for” because we should give thanks to the men of Tarawa and for a country that produced such men and still does, although probably in smaller numbers than in 1943.

Unfortunately, and deliberately, American schools and universities do not teach American children about the courage and sacrifice of their forefathers on Tarawa [or Valley Forge, the shores of Tripoli, Shiloh, Gettysburg, Belleau Wood, Iwo Jima, Omaha Beach, Bastogne, Chosin Reservoir, la Drang, etc. etc. etc].

“He who controls the past controls the future.  He who controls the present controls the past.”  George Orwell

Let us not only give thanks men of Tarawa and countless others who gave us the exceptional country we have today, but let us also renew our commitment to pass on an America as exceptional as the one we received, and that includes teaching the true history of, although not perfect measured by the standards of today, a great and exceptional country.

Thankful Patriots

“Of all the characteristics needed for both a happy and morally decent life, none surpasses gratitude.”  Dennis Prager

“And for our heritage – a land rich with the bountiful blessings of God, and the freedom to enjoy those rich blessings – we give thanks to God Almighty in this time, and for all time.”  Richard Nixon

We spend much of our time focusing on and fighting against what Obama and the Dem/Left are doing to America and the gathering foreign threats to America.  It often seems there is more bad news than good news.  We also face personal challenges, some very serious.  However, in addition to enjoying the turkey and fixins, the company of family and friends, watching football and/or dozing off on the sofa, let us give thanks and be grateful for America’s and our own individual blessings.

We in the Redlands Tea Party Patriots count among our blessings that we are citizens of the greatest and most exceptional country that has ever existed, the Constitution, the prior generations of patriots who created this great country and made her better, stronger and more prosperous with each generation, our service members who defend her still today, and the increasing numbers of citizens who are waking up to the responsibilities and duties of “the most important political office that of the private citizen.”

We on the Cabinet of the Redlands Tea Party Patriots are grateful for the opportunity to work with so many dedicated patriots in the cause of preserving the freedom and opportunity for people today and our children and grandchildren to pursue the American dream.  We take this opportunity to rededicate ourselves to this great cause and say thank you to everyone in the Redlands Tea Party Patriots and our Unite IE coalition partners who are doing so much in service of our great cause.

We also are keenly aware of the ultimate source of our blessings, and keenly aware as Louis Gohmert said: “‘It’s in God’s hands’ does not mean we can lean on our shovels and wait for the hole to dig itself.”

The Redlands Tea Party Patriots and our Unite IE allies are not slowing down for the holidays, other than perhaps for a few hours after Thanksgiving dinner.

We wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, and then back to work because we have an exceptional nation to be grateful for and to save.

A Veritable Patriot Activists’ Smorgasbord This Christmas Season

Since we cannot cross the Delaware River with George Washington, there are few things Patriot activists like doing more during the Christmas holiday season than enjoying face time with their elected representatives to wish them a Merry Christmas and build their relationships with their elected representatives.  While a holiday reception may not be the best time to berate your representative over how they voted on one or more bills, it is a good opportunity to get to know them better and vice versa.  There are many opportunities to do so.

Congressman Pete Aguilar, December 4 [Cancelled] The San Bernardino County Medical Society scheduled a fundraiser for Pete Aguilar on December 4.  We The People Rising and Redlands Tea Party Patriots planned to protest Pete Aguilar’s terrible record in Congress voting nearly lock step with Nancy Pelosi.  Patriot activist extraordinaire Dr. Sam Wong organized so much opposition among his fellow doctors that the San Bernardino County Medical Society canceled the fundraiser.  Good work Dr. Sam!!!  We are so thankful you are on our team.

Among many other liberal positions, Pete Aguilar supports Obamacare (with higher prices for worse coverage), Planned Parenthood’s abortion mills and “baby chop shops” and Obama’s Nukes for Iran deal.  [Pete Aguilar did vote to protect Americans by requiring proper vetting of “Syrian” “Refugees” proving that not ever Pete Aguilar can be wrong 100% of the time.]

Let’s Hydrate Jerry Brown’s California

proof-god-exists2The state of California is currently suffering what our leaders in Sacramento call is a drought, now in truth, the California weather and water patterns are doing what they’ve always done, we believe it’s really a lack of common sense. So Jerry and his disorganization have fined the city of Redlands $61,000 for using water which they pumped out of their own real estate and drank. We understand that citizens need to let Jerry know exactly what we think, so we’re sending him small samples of water in appropriate receptacles leaving no doubt to his understanding exactly what we think and what we want him to do… ( re-hydrate California a few drops at a time ) It’s very simple.

Redlands City Council Meeting, November 17

***************************************************

Thank to the Patriots and citizens who took their valuable time to attend the Redlands City Council meeting tonight.  Everyone who spoke did great.

Vicki Hargrave, Shirley Belleu and Greg from Redlands Townhall forcefully argued against the folly of admitting more “Syrian” “refugees” since “Syrian” “refugees” participated in the Paris terrorists attacks and the FBI as well as Obama’s director of intelligence say the “refugees” cannot be vetted.

Other Patriots spoke against the plan to run 58 trains per day including eight full-size diesel Metrolink trains each 500-600 feet long through Redlands and trying to get people to use the bus or train for shopping at Sam’s Club.

Some Patriots, John Berry, Sam Wong and Carolyn Hays, lasted until after 10:00 to speak against the plan to raise our water rates 19%.  Thanks in part to their efforts, the Redlands City Council voted to defer increasing water rates until their first meeting in January 2016.  GOOD WORK PARTIOTS!!!

City officials claim they need more money to repair aging water pipes.  I learned that the City raised water rates in 2012, 2013 in 2014, supposedly to repair water pipes, but thus far they only repaired 1 mile of water pipes.

Where did the money go?  Part of the answer is the City “borrowed” the money for other purposes.

In the private sector, when a business’ sales decline, the business has to find ways to cut costs.  In the private sector, when our sales decline, we do not get to correspondingly increase our prices so our income remains the same.  Government can and should find ways to reduce its costs and/or the City should repay the money it “borrowed” from the water department.

Other Redlands citizens, in addition to members of Redlands Townhall and Redlands Tea Party Patriots, helped fulfill their obligations as citizens of a constitutional republic by attending the meeting and speaking on various issues of concern to them.

As always, “The most important political office is that of the private citizen.” Justice Louis D. Brandeis

It is much easier to be a government subject or a sheep in the government pasture than it is to be a citizen of a constitutional republic.  The latter takes work, time and effort.
