Thank you to all of the great Patriots who helped with the Redlands Tea Party Patriots #4thOfJuly booth at Sylvan Park in Redlands: Victor & Carol Theotig, Scott & Ann Olson, Terri Boon, Carol Lohoefer, John Berry, Carolyn Hays and Greg Brittain.  And, when our E-Z Up became “Can’t Put Up,” Chuck Brummett went home and got his for us to use.

Carolyn made up great educational games for children such as name the states, fill in the blanks for Patriotic songs and the key parts of the Declaration of Independence.

We had the Declaration of Independence to sign with a genuine quill Sharpie, and this was very popular with children and adults.

We were next to our friends and allies in the Redlands Republican Women.  Together we drew far more people than the Dems.  Interestingly, when one the Dems stopped by, he refused to sign the Declaration of Independence.

We also passed out many cards with our Tea Party principles and got two pages of new email contacts.  

And even better, we had a great time.

Then we adjourned to the After Party at Doug & Jan Leja’s beautiful country home in Yucaipa for a great 4th of July BBQ.  Thank you Doug & Jan. 

Last but not least, thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth.

Let’s Remember the Reason for the Holiday.

From the Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776:

–“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. –That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

Abraham Lincoln recognized this in his Gettysburg Address:

–“Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”

President Donald J. Trump recently acknowledged this:

–“Since the signing of the Declaration of Independence 241 years ago, America always affirmed that liberty comes from our creator.”

This is “why” of America.  No other nation was “so conceived and so dedicated.”  America was thus the exception of human history and this exception made America exceptional.

The Declaration of Independence concludes:

–“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”

They made the pledge to make America knowing that if they were caught by the British, they would be hanged.  Are we willing to make this pledge today to #MakeAmericaGreatAgain and keep the exception that makes America exceptional?

THE REDLANDS TEA PARTY PATRIOTS SALUTE MARTIN LUTHER KING FOR UPHOLDING THE CONSTITUTION AND AMERICA’S FOUNDING PRINCIPLE THAT ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL

The Declaration of Independence states:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,…

This is the foundation of American liberty and the Constitution, which is the foundation agreement for how we govern ourselves as free people. It is the “why” of America.

The 2nd Amendment provides “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

The 14th Amendment guaranties due process and equal protection. The 14 Amendment was intended to grant equality before the law to the newly freed slaves.

The 15th Amendment guaranties the right to vote could not be abridged on account of race. The 15 Amendment was intended to grant the newly freed slaves the right to vote.

After the withdrawal of Federal troops from the South in 1877, the Democrats took power in the South and systematically violated the 14th and 15th Amendments to the Constitution depriving African Americans of due process, equal protection of the law and the right to vote, and that was not just in the South. Other Americans including the courts failed to uphold the Constitution until beginning in the 1950s.

BTW, the Democrats’ “Black Codes” that prohibited African Americans from owning guns allowed the Democrats’ military arm, the KKK, to terrorize and intimidate African Americans to deprive them of their 14th and 15th Amendment rights.

Dr. King recognized this stating in his famous “I have a dream” speech:

When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The Redlands Tea Party Patriots take the opportunity of MLK Day to salute Martin Luther King for his work in upholding and enforcing the Constitution of the United States and upholding America’s founding principle “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Martin Luther King also exemplified Justice Louis D. Brandeis’ statement: “The most important political office is that of the private citizen.”

The experience of African Americans and the Constitution is an important lesson for all Americans.

Thomas Jefferson said: 

In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.”

The experience of African Americans shows how true Thomas Jefferson’s statement is and the importance of the Tea Party principle of “constitutionally limited government.”  Unless government is firmly bound by the Constitution, no one’s rights and liberties are secure.

Some things are right and some things are wrong, no matter if everybody is doing the contrary. Some things in this universe are absolute. The God of the universe has made it so. And so long as we adopt this relative attitude toward right and wrong, we’re revolting against the very laws of God himself.”

Any nation or government that deprives an individual of freedom is in that moment committing an act of moral and spiritual murder. Any individual who is not concerned about his freedom commits an act of moral and spiritual suicide.”

If you can’t fly, run; if you can’t run, walk; if you can’t walk, crawl; but by all means keep moving.”
