On the other hand, incumbents PAT GILBREATH and JOHN JAMES:

**Voted for the 55% water and sewer rate increase.
**Support running 58 trains per day through Redlands with 600+ street crossings, that few people that will make life, traffic and business worse.
**Voted to spend Redlands tax dollars on the project.
**Support building high density “stack and pack” housing at the five train stations, and such projects usually if not always include low income housing.  The 58 trains and “stack and pack” housing will change the character Redlands and benefit only the developers who build the taxpayer subsidized high density housing.
**Support the new “Sustainability” aka Agenda 21 based general plan that seeks to control and reduce the number of trips we take and get us to use less efficient, slower means of transportation.
**Support unelected regional government such as SANBAG and SCAG that usurp local control.

KEN HUNTER opposes all of the above and will shake up our local rigged system.

If you vote for #DonaldTrump, you should vote for KEN HUNTER.

Redlands Tea Party Patriots Voter Guide, 2016 General Election (Final 16.11.08)

The core principles of the Redlands Tea Party Patriots are:

  • Personal Freedom and Constitutionally Limited Government.
  • Economic Freedom with Opportunity for All and Favoritism for None.
  • A Debt-Free Future through Fiscal Responsibility Today

With these principles in mind, the Redlands Tea Party Patriots’ Cabinet recommends:

STOP THE 45% [Sam says 55%] REDLANDS WATER RATE INCREASE [and disguised tax increase]

The Redlands City Council approved a whopping 45% [or 55%] (compounded) water rate increase plus a 2.5% yearly sewer rate increase.

Council members Paul Foster, Jon Harrison, Pat Gilbreath and John James approved the 45% [or 55%] rate increase.  Only councilmember Paul Barich voted no.  [Thank you Paul Barich for looking out for Redlands taxpayers and rate payers.]

Government is never expected to be more efficient or effective.  The answer is invariably to extract more money from the people.

******************************

All residents and businesses in Redlands should have received a “Prop 218 notice.”  To block the 45% [or 55%] water rate increase, a majority of property owners mail a written objection.  The Council could have put the 45% [or 55%]  water rate increase on the June ballot so Redlands voters could choose, but the Council chose not to do so because it is more likely the 45% [or 55%] water rate increase will slide through with the Prop 218 notice procedure.

The City’s “Prop 218” notice consists of two pages of tables of numbers that few people will analyze.  The City’s “Prop 218” notice does not mention the percentage increase or include a form to object to the huge 45% [or 55%] water rate increase.

Is the City being open and honest with the people of Redlands?

To stop the 45% [or 55%] water rate increase, we must  mail written objections by March 15, 2016.

A flyer to share with your friends, neighbors, family and coworkers and a form to object to the 45% [or 55%] water rate increase is below.

******************************

The City’s purported reasons for the 45% [or 55%] water rate increase are (1) the City is selling less water because of state-mandated cutbacks and (2) to purportedly fixed the pipes.

However, the West Valley Water District recently rescinded a rate increase and cancelled two scheduled rate increases even though it also is selling less water, and Redlands previously increased water rates to “fix the pipes.”

So what are the real reasons for the whopping 45% [or 55%] water rate increase?

Does the City intend to use money from the whopping 45% [or 55%] water rate increase as a disguised tax increase to fix the purported 100 year flood problem downtown so developers can build high density, tax payer subsidized “stack and pack” housing along the rail where they plan to run 58 trains per day?

In 2014, the City proposed a tax increase to pay for fixing the purported 100 year flood problem.  Public opinion was so overwhelmingly against the tax increase, the City Council did not even put it on the ballot.  Troy Clark from the City planning department said one of the ways to address the flood problem is with larger pipes.

So is part of the whopping 45% [or 55%] rate increase intended to deal with the 100 year flood problem so they can build high density “stack and pack” housing?

Mayor Foster vigorously denied this.  If we cannot trust our government, if we cannot trust Mayor Foster, who can we trust?

Even if Redlands does not intend to use money from the 45% [or 55%] water rate increase as a disguised tax increase to fix the purported 100 year flood problem downtown, the 45% [or 55%] rate increase is not justified.

In the private sector, if our sales decrease, we do not get to correspondingly raise our prices to keep our revenue constant.  We have to find ways to reduce expenses.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

    • Return the form with the flyer below OBJECTING to the rate increase.  [There is a URL to obtain the assessor parcel number for your property.]
    • TELL YOUR NEIGHBORS (we need a majority of residents to object to the 45% [or 55%] increase or else the rates will increase by default.
    • Make copies of the attached flyer and drop it off at all of your neighbors.
    • Attend Council meetings and tell them what you think of their 45% [or 55%] water rate increase. [first and third Tuesdays, 6:00].
    • Share this post with everyone you can.
    • Remember Pat Gilbreath and John James are up for reelection this year, and they voted to increase our water rates by 45% [or 55%].

UPDATE: 40% Water Rate Increase In Redlands

On January 19, the #Redlands City Council voted 4-1 to raise water rates a staggering 40% and sewer rates 7.5% [and even more when compounded].  Voting for the 40% increase: Paul Foster, Jon Harrison, John James and Patricia Gilbreath.  Voting against the 40% rate increase: Paul Barich.

This stands in stark contrast to the West Valley Water District decrease their water rates.

–Why such a staggering rate increase?

–Are any other cities imposing similar huge rate increases?

–Paying  more for less is #Sustainability in action.  But is there more going on with this staggering rate increase?

Thank you to the Citizen Patriots who turned out: Tressy Capps, Gary Gileno, Bill Miller, Sam Wong, Carolyn Hays, and Greg Brittain.   As always, “The most important political office is that of the private citizen.”

IMPORTANT MEETINGS IN REDLANDS THIS WEEK FOR CITIZEN PATRIOTS

“The most important political office is that of the private citizen.” Justice Louis D. Brandeis

It is much easier to be a government subject or a sheep in the government pasture than to be a citizen of a constitutional republic.  The latter takes work, time and effort.

Redlands City Council meeting
Tuesday, January 19, 6:00, Redlands City Hall, 35 Cajon Street
======================================================

The public comment session near the beginning of the meeting is a good opportunity to tell your City Council members what you want your government to do or not do.  In previous meetings Citizen Patriots urged the City Council to oppose settling “Syrian” “refugees” in Redlands at least until they can be properly vetted for possible terrorists; opposed high density housing; and opposed SANBAG’s and the City’s plan to run 58 trains per day through Redlands.

Please join us in urging our City Council to oppose settling purported “Syrian” “refugees Redlands, at least until they can be vetted for possible terrorists.  Please join us in urging our elected officials to put Americans citizens first.

As Ronald Reagan said: “If history teaches anything, it teaches self-delusion in the face of unpleasant facts is folly.”

IN ADDITION, THE REDLANDS CITY COUNCIL WILL CONSIDER RAISING OUR WATER RATES UP TO 45%, COMPOUNDED.

Redlands General Plan Steering Committee
Wednesday, January 20, 6:00, City Council Chamber, 35 Cajon Street.
==========================================================

The City of Redlands is updating its General Plan, which will control what gets built and where for the next 20 years.  Many cities in California and across the country are doing so, and they are trying to implement a top-down agenda of high density and low income housing, restricting single family homes, and making it more difficult to drive.  It is the local version of “sustainability” aka “fundamental transformation.”

The general plan may seem not very interesting, but it is very important to the future of Redlands.

The City’s and SANBAG’s plan to run formerly 50 and now 58 trains per day through Redlands is part of the “transformation.”  If we do not want Redlands to be “fundamentally transformed” including high density (and low income) housing throughout Redlands, restricting single family homes, trying to force us out of our cars, and restricting traffic for those who still drive so it will take more of our time to drive around Redlands, we the people of Redlands need to be involved in the process.

I asked the questions multiple times at general plan meetings:

–“What do we want to change about Redlands?”
–“What does ‘sustainability’ mean?”
–“Are we currently ‘sustainable'”?  If not, what has to change, and who gets to make that decision?

I have yet to hear any answers.

Take a look at the “stack and pack” apartments on Lugonia next to JC Penny [and more are coming] to catch a glimpse of the “sustainable” future.

It is important the as many citizens as possible tell their City Council and government what they want for the future of Redlands.

If we do not want Redlands “fundamentally transformed” with high density and low income housing and forcing us out of our cars, We the People need to be involved in the process.

To paraphrase Edmund Burke, “The only thing necessary for the “sustainability” agenda to triumph is for good Patriots and citizens to do nothing.”

Ignorant, yes.  Prejudiced, yes.  Unpatriotic, yes.  I and my fellow tea party members have been called these pejoratives and far more by liberals because we asked our City Council to protect us from potential jihadi infiltration by not taking in Syrian refugees.

I have been insulted, belittled, and vilified despite the plain hard facts I presented in my columns.

But I really take it personally when I am called evil by a Redlands town leader.

To condemn tea party members to be as evil as the husband and wife terrorist duo who executed Americans because they weren’t Muslim, is such fallacious thinking that it boggles the mind.

Yet Mayor Paul Foster, undaunted by reality, equated us to be as evil as the jihadi assassins.

At a recent City Council meeting, he said, “Despite the loud voices of a few individuals spreading fear we are a community that embraces residents of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds and we will not honor one act of evil with another act of evil.”

To Paul Foster, conservatives are evil when they attest that Syrian refugees could harbor terrorists and ignores the fact that we are simply trying to protect our town from enemies in an undeclared war.

Well, actually, the enemy, ISIS, has very definitively declared war on the United States.  Unfortunately President Obama admits that he hasn’t been watching enough cable television to realize that We the People are worried about more terrorist attacks. He must be delusional not to know that a recent CNN poll shows seventy-seven percent of Americans believe that our government can’t protect us.

FBI Director Comey testified before Congress that they are unable to properly vet Syrian refugees due to a lack of source information.  Never mind that just this last week, we found out that ISIS has possession of thousands of blank passports and that they are bragging about how they have infiltrated the refugees with jihadis.

War is war, my friends, and just because it is a different kind of war doesn’t mean that we should jeopardize our lives for political correctness.  If anybody should realize that, we who live where the San Bernardino terrorists nested should be most aware that terrorists should not be invited in.

If a rabid dog were coming down the street, we wouldn’t send our children out to call the doggie into the house so we can get it medical attention.

Paul Foster doesn’t care as much about the danger to Redlanders as he does about projecting his liberal politically correct message.

To the left, the root of all evil is social injustice and Americans must eradicate it even if doing so destroys our way of life.  Even if it puts out a welcome mat inviting rabid dogs into our neighborhood.

Liberals apparently think tea party members are unable to see the difference between good and loyal American Muslims who reject radical Islam and the American Muslim and his Pakistani wife who executed innocents. We are not proposing that American Muslims be deported, or jailed, or sent to a Manzanar-like camp.

My husband, a Vietnam vet, reminded me that previous wars had front lines, behind which the enemy stood ready to kill.  In this war, the enemy worked daily and broke bread with those he later slaughtered.  His terrorist wife accepted baby presents from those she would shoot down like rabid dogs and with about the same level of mercy.

This enemy is unlike any we have previously faced.  Surely none of us can imagine abandoning our six-month old baby to strap on war gear to go massacre co-workers.  Then leave behind a bomb meant to blow to pieces both survivors of the attack and first responders.

That is truly the face of evil.

Not Redlanders who want to keep Syrian refugees out of the country until such time that we can be sure they are jihadi-free.

We conservatives have been unjustifiably disparaged by the mayor of Redlands, Paul Foster, who divides us into “virtuous” versus “evil.”

To so badly misinterpret the ideas of a majority of his constituents is to create a painful chasm that cannot soon be healed.

CITIZEN PATRIOTS SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER AT THE REDLANDS CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON DECEMBER 5

Thank you and kudos to all of the great Patriots who attended the Redlands City Council meeting on January 5 on a cold and rainy night to fulfill the obligations of “the most important political office, that of the private citizen.”

Everyone who spoke did great, Sam Wong, Marilyn Synder, Bill Miller, Tressy Capps, Dr. Ed Mukulski, and especially Greg Humpal.  We again pointed out the risks and costs of bringing unvetted and unvettable refugees to America and specifically to Redlands some of whom will likely be terrorists and many of whom will be welfare recipients.

Greg Humpal not only gave a great three-minute speech, he checked the minutes from the City Council meeting on December 15 and found, lo and behold, they unfairly and inaccurately characterized what the citizen Patriots said regarding bringing unvetted and unvettable refugees to America and specially to Redlands.  Greg Humpal then put in a speaker slip for the agenda item to approve the minutes, which is normally approved without discussion with other items in the consent calendar.  Greg then got three more minutes to speak and point out where the minutes were unfair and inaccurate.  The City Council nevertheless approved the minutes without modification or even discussion.

Greg Brittain again urged the City Council and the citizens of Redlands to oppose the Redlands “crazy train” project that will run 58 trains per day through Redlands, with 600+ street crossings per day, at a cost according to SANBAG’s figures of $300,000 per estimated rider, and government ridership estimates are always high and cost estimates are always low.

See Grindall61’s video.

While the proposed water rate increase was not on the agenda Greg Brittain also urged the Council to obtain and provide to the people of Redlands an accounting of prior rate increases and City “loans” from the water department before considering raising our water rates.  On December 1, the City Council deferred action on a proposed 19% water rate increase.  Since then, a city commission recommended a 40% water rate increase.

The 19%-40% water rate increase could come back before the City Council at any time, so please stay vigilant.

Thank you also to the citizen Patriots who attended in support of our great speakers.

While we face huge challenges in saving and restoring America, please consider and remember that a year ago, there are usually no citizen Patriots “speaking truth to power” at the City Council meetings.

Keep up the good work.  As always, “The most important political office is that of the private citizen.” Justice Louis D. Brandeis
