THEY HAVE TO LIE ABOUT THE TEA PARTY
Mr. Colella is at it again, attacking the Tea Party movement in the RDF http://www.redlandsdailyfacts.com/opinion/20150129/a-reader-says-tea-party-positions-are-unpatriotic
The following is the reply I posted and submitted to the RDF for publication.
As with Mr. Colella’s prior letters and all attacks on the Tea Party movement Mr. Colella fails to mention the “extreme” Tea Party principles: 👿
- Personal freedom.
- Economic freedom.
- A debt-free future.
Perhaps this is because he cannot attack our principles so he has to make up stuff about us.
The Tea Party movement is a grassroots movement of millions of Americans concerned about the well-being of their country and the future of their children and grandchildren. Most people in the Tea Party movement are involved in politics for the first time. The Tea Party movement has thousands of all volunteer local chapters around America including the Redlands Tea Party Patriots. Unlike most people involved in politics, we are not trying to get money, benefits, special privileges, waivers or exemptions from the government.
Now let’s turn to the false statements in Colella’s latest letter.
FIRST, Colella quotes the definition of “patriot” from the Webster’s dictionary as “one who loves his or her country and supports its authority and interests.” Every member of the Tea Party movement is donating their time and money to the cause because they love their country. If “supports its authority,” means “supports the government and its policies,” we categorically reject that definition. In a constitutional republic, the citizens not only have the right but also the obligation to change the government and government policy when they believe it is in error. If “supports its authority,” means supports the government and its policies, liberals and leftists like Mr. Colella were “unpatriotic” when they protested the government under George W. Bush. However, that cannot be because Nancy Pelosi told us that protest is patriotic.
[Mr. Colella actually defines “patriot” as lock step support of the Dem party.]
SECOND, Mr. Colella may want to brush up on, or perhaps read for the first time, the United States Constitution. Perhaps he can write a future letter and tell us what article or amendment contains the constitutional right of “liberty and justice for all.” [Hint, that phrase is from the Pledge of Allegiance.]
THIRD, the national Tea Party Patriots and the Redlands Tea Party Patriots have not taken any position on “women’s reproductive rights,” which is usually LeftSpeak for abortion on demand for the entire nine months of pregnancy. I challenge Mr. Colella to find anyone in the Tea Party movement or the Rep party who wants to restrict access to contraceptives. That is a lie in the spirit of Lenin, H*tler and Goebbels, keep repeating a lie and eventually people will begin to believe it.
FOURTH, Colella has two sentences regarding healthcare without trying to defend or even mentioning Obamacare. The Tea Party movement strongly opposes Obamacare as a threat to health care, jobs, the economy, fiscal responsibility and liberty. Here are a few recent stories regarding the failures of Obamacare.
- CBO Now Says 10 Mil Will Lose Employer Health Plans Under ObamaCare http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorials-obama-care/012715-736559-cbo-says-obamacare-will-push-10-million-of-employer-plans.htm
- Obamacare: $2 Trillion In Spending, $643M In Taxes, Insurance For $50K A Head http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/01/27/obamacare-2-trillion-in-spending-643m-in-taxes-insurance-for-50k-a-head/ “It will cost the federal government – taxpayers, that is –$50,000 for every person who gets health insurance under the Obamacare law, the Congressional Budget Office revealed on Monday.”
- Affordable Care Act prompts small firms to drop health insurance, limit hiring, survey finds http://www.mlive.com/business/west-michigan/index.ssf/2015/01/affordable_care_act_prompting.html
- “Some 3 million to 6 million Americans will have to pay an Obamacare tax penalty.” http://money.cnn.com/2015/01/28/news/economy/obamacare-tax-penalty/
- 3,137-County Analysis: Obamacare Increased 2014 Individual-Market Premiums By Average Of 49% http://www.forbes.com/sites/theapothecary/2014/06/18/3137-county-analysis-obamacare-increased-2014-individual-market-premiums-by-average-of-49/
The Tea Party movement favors real reforms that increase competition and patient choice rather than increasing government, taxes, bureaucracy and control by the federal government.
FIFTH, Social Security is anything but secure as presently constructed. It is actuarially out of balance by tens of trillions of dollars. It is only nominally a “trust fund.” The politicians spent the temporary Social Security surplus giving IOUs from future taxpayers in return. More young people believe in flying saucers than believe they will ever receive a Social Security check. Dems claiming Social Security is fine as is, are like Obama claiming the war on terror is over. Unfortunately, denying reality does not make it any less real.
SIXTH, the Tea Party movement generally does not take positions on foreign policy issues, although individuals in the Tea Party movement are concerned with national security and the Jihadist terrorist threat in particular. Nondefense Federal spending dwarfs defense spending. America spends ~1 TRILLION on means tested welfare entitled programs. How about the welfare industrial complex? Or the green crony industrial complex?
SEVENTH, “endless war” is a leftist slogan devised to undermine America’s war effort under George W. Bush. Both the Afghan and Iraq wars were approved by large bipartisan majorities in Congress. Hillary Clinton and John Kerry voted for the Iraq war, before they voted against it.
America won the war in Iraq, and Obama threw away our victory and the sacrifices of our military. Obama is in the process of losing the Afghan war.
EIGHTH, there is no “spokesman” for the Tea Party movement or conservatives. Rush was addicted to pain medication and overcame it. If Rush was Dem, Colella would say that is a good thing. “Buffoon” is a matter of opinion depending on whether you agree with him. His success for more than 20 years suggests otherwise.
“Overpaid” illustrates Colella’s and the Dem Left’s lack of economic understanding. Rush earns money because advertisers choose to advertise on his show and people choose to buy his books and subscribe to website. Advertisers advertise on Rush’ show because millions of people voluntarily listen to a show. Unlike the government or unions, Rush cannot take money from anyone against their will. By definition, Rush cannot be overpaid. Rush can only earn money because people voluntarily listen to purchase his books.
NINTH, we know why we call ourselves “patriots,” but I have a different question. Why don’t Dems, Liberals and Leftists call themselves “patriots”? We do not have the word “patriots” trademarked or copyrighted so they are free to do so.
If you agree with the Tea Party principles,
If you are concerned with America’s future and believe the Dems and Reps have her on the wrong track,
If you believe your children and grandchildren will not have as much freedom and opportunity as you did,
If you are young person and believe you will not have as much freedom and opportunity as your parents and grandparents did,
If you believe handing $18 Trillion in debt (and climbing) to our children is immoral,
We invite you to learn more about the Tea Party movement.
