“This is a great e newsletter!”
Pardon our crowing, but we didn’t make up that quote! (Honest!)
It’s a comment from the founder of the national Tea Party Patriots, Jenny Beth Martin, who sent an unsolicited comment to the Redlands Tea Party Patriots about our newsletter earlier this month after we inquired about more national training and resources for an expanding tea party movement in Southern California.
By the way, Jenny Beth Martin — often called the mother hen of the tea party movement — was featured in an Aug. 28 front-page story in the Wall Street Journal. The story focused on the resurgent Tea Party Patriots in the wake of the ongoing IRS scandal. Interested? The link is below is good at least through Sept. 4. You must cut and paste this link into your browser.
So many events to cover — but first, we are determined to help repeal AB 1266, the so-called “transgender bathroom bill.” That absurd and indefensible bill, signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown earlier this month, allows boys and girls to use bathrooms, locker rooms and sports teams based on the gender they identify with versus the gender they actually are. (We’re not making this up.) Students, coaches and parents cannot object to their invasions of privacy by students of the opposite sex. (We’re not making that one up, either.)
We will be circulating petitions which are still on the presses. We expect to make them available for the first time at our Sept. 5 general meeting. We will also have them at all our public events. Your signature is vital. The Capitol Resource Institute in Sacramento is leading the effort. They must have 505,000 valid signatures in hand by Nov. 12. If that happens, the law will placed on hold until the people of California can decide the issue on the November 2014 ballot.
The San Bernardino County Republican Central Committee shares our outrage. The committee formally voted Aug. 22 to support the law’s repeal.

Still livid? Want to do more? Information about attending the Redlands Unified School District board meetings are in the next column. The school board needs to hear from you.
Still in the mood to contact our elected officials? Read on!
SB 323 is heading to the state Senate floor for a final vote. If approved, and Brown signs, this mean-spirited bill would strip the tax exemption from every group — ranging from little league and 4H to religious clubs as well as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts — that does not conform to state-mandated Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender indoctrination. The bill forbids any negative discussion.
We have a rock-solid and packed September calendar!
On Sept. 5, California GOP chairman Jim Brulte will be our featured speaker. At that same meeting, we will offer opportunities to enroll in our Sept. 7 training, which is also at the Mill Creek Cattle Co.
On that Saturday, the Leadership Institute from Arlington, Va., will travel to Redlands for a day-long session of political training for conservatives. You can also enroll at their website,
http://www.leadershipinstitute.org/training/school.cfm?SchoolID=23207 Cost: $25. Training is aimed at people wanting to participate in the political process as well as people considering a run for public office.
Mill Creek will offer a light breakfast and full-lunch, including drinks and tips, for $25. The Redlands Tea Party Patriots are offering $10 coupons toward that offer for the first 40 people who enroll. (Hurry! Already 32 people have officially signed up as of last week.)
To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time a national-level conservative group has traveled to Redlands to deliver such high-quality training.
The Leadership Institute trains thousands of conservatives worldwide each year, so it’s no wonder why Obama’s IRS targeted this group as part of the ongoing scandal. The LI trained more than 13,000 people in 2012, more than 8,000 of them inside the USA.
We are joining forces with California’s Crusader to oppose all amnesty efforts. We encourage everyone to support the rally at US Rep. Gary Miller’s office on Sept. 6. Information is listed in the adjoining column. For more information:
We are working on a joint townhall meeting with US Rep Paul Cook and Gary Miller. No guarantees.
Finally, we are supporting Redlands Townhall, which is sponsoring a Sept. 11 event at Ed Hales Park, Fifth and State streets, in downtown Redlands called, “400 Flags for Benghazi, What is the Truth?” The two-hour events starts at 6 p.m. Speakers, food and music included. We encourage your attendance as well as signing for a petition calling for a special investigator.
